Navistar Delivers First Hybrid Beverage Tractor, Honors Customer Contributor

Continuing to Exceed Customer Expectations by helping them go green for less, Navistar recently honored Ben E. Keith, one of the largest independent Anheuser-Busch wholesalers in the United States, and a contributor to the design and development of our International® DuraStar® Hybrid beverage tractor, with the keys to the first unit.

During a ceremony at our manufacturing plant in Garland, Texas, we turned over the keys of a brand new DuraStar Hybrid beverage tractor to Ben E. Keith, to recognize the company’s commitment to aiding Navistar in the design and development of the groundbreaking vehicle.

”The vehicle’s first-of-its-kind technology will conserve energy, decrease emissions and reduce the company’s carbon footprint.”

“We are honored that Ben E. Keith, a highly regarded beverage distributor, partnered with Navistar to design a hybrid-electric, diesel-engine beverage tractor,” said Jim Williams, director, Sales and Distribution for New Products. “Ben E. Keith’s early design involvement helped Navistar bring this beverage delivery product to market swiftly and demonstrates their firm commitment to a cleaner environment.”

He added that the hybrid beverage tractor is just another first in Navistar’s long history of green leadership, pointing out that the vehicle’s first-of-its-kind technology will conserve energy, decrease emissions and reduce the company’s carbon footprint.

“We’re extremely excited to receive the first-ever hybrid beverage tractor,” said Kevin Bartholomew, president of Ben E. Keith. “We continually look for new opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint, so when Navistar presented this new technology, we knew they listened to what Ben E. Keith was trying to accomplish. Better still is the net result — a new product that furthers our green initiatives in the communities we serve.”

The company’s new DuraStar Hybrid beverage tractor stood on display during a hybrid grant-writing workshop also taking place at the Garland plant. Hosted by International® dealers from across Texas, the workshop is part of a series designed to help customers apply for state grant funds set aside for those who purchase trucks, such as the DuraStar Hybrid, which reduce engine emissions. Last week, the group closed out the Texas series, hosting a workshop in San Antonio.
